Bavarian Bites App
Overview
The Bavarian Bites ordering app was designed to allow patrons of the restaurant to order pickup/delivery online without the use of a third-party app such as Chownow or Doordash enhancing the overall customer experience for Bavarian Bites customers.
My Role
Lead UX Designer & UX Researcher
Responsibilities:
User research, wireframing, prototyping, motion design
Home Screen
The home screen was built with simplicity in mind. I wanted users to immediately be able to see what order wait time would be and allow users to select takeout or delivery right from the outset where they can then see the order turnaround time updated accordingly.
The menu slide-over hint is built to give users that tactile feel of opening a physical menu at a restaurant digitally.
Frequent users will eventually be able to see their favorite meals populate somewhere within the empty space for a quick add-to-cart experience.
Menu
A common theme throughout the user experience is simplicity. Users will first be guided to a categories page where they can narrow down their search and make decisions faster.
Filtering options are also available to allow for further refinement and accessibility to those who may have food intolerances.
Additionally, each menu option has more information available with ingredients and nutritional information. Users can also modify their order, removing or adding things to their liking.
Finally, users are offered other accessibility features such as a screen reader for those who are visually impaired, and a language-changing feature.
Checkout
Users are guided through a 3 step checkout process where they first review their order and are given the option to modify that order while in the cart. They then confirm delivery or pickup where they have the option to switch from delivery to pickup or vice versa. Additionally, users can change their pickup/delivery time to a later time if desired.
Once orders are confirmed, users are met with a nice friendly animation in addition to the opportunity to give feedback on their experience. If pickup is selected a short set of instructions will follow to inform the users on how to pick up their order once they get to the restaurant.

Feel free to click around the Figma prototype for the Bavarian Bites app. While you won't experience some of the cool motion you see in the GIFs above, you will get to see the app up close for yourself.
Note: Bavarian Bites is a portfolio piece, not a real app or restaurant. With that said, my goal was to create something as true to life as possible. I hope you enjoy the final result as much as I do.
